As a consortium member, Doug brings extensive experience in both engineering and leadership, having spent 40 years in the electricity industry. His career includes a decade in leadership roles at Synergy’s Muja Power Station and six years as Managing Director of Western Power. Over time, he has honed his expertise as an engineer, project manager, negotiator, public communicator, leader, and coach.

In parallel, Doug has developed a psychotherapy practice spanning four decades and holds Clinical Registration with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.

Through his business, Marple Bridge Pty Ltd, Doug provides coaching, mentoring, and consultancy services to senior business professionals. His work includes facilitating strategic planning and team-building for CEOs and executive teams, as well as coaching on the application of psychological principles to improve engagement. This approach enhances leadership effectiveness and supports organizations in achieving long-term success.

His clients include high-profile engineering companies across various industries in both Australia and overseas, spanning private and government sectors.

Doug also continues to consult for the energy industry, focusing on the transition from a linear delivery model to an integrated, sustainable, and prosumer-centric approach. His clients include the Australian Energy Council and a major renewable energy generator.

A Fellow of AICD since 2003, Doug has served on numerous private, government, and nonprofit boards. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.

To maintain his own sanity Doug enjoys jogging, gym, ocean swimming, and scuba diving. He is married with two adult children.
